Welcome to New Zealand Motorcyclists’ Action Group, MAG NZ.
We are a 100% voluntary, not for profit organisation formed to preserve and protect motorcycling in New Zealand. MAG NZ is a politically neutral organisation with no affiliation to any political party or movement. We are about the heart and soul of biking, and no matter whether you call yourself a motorcyclist or a biker or a supporter, no matter what you ride, on road or off, MAG NZ welcomes you to our group.
As the name suggests MAG NZ is about Action. Now that the unfair reduction has taken effect our primary points of action are active protests. This is our focus right now but can and will change. Don't forget the reason we are doing the these events.
This from the NZTA site with regards to the ACC levies:
"Why are the levies being reduced by so much?
The reductions are possible because ACC has had consistently strong financial performance in recent years. It has also achieved its goal of being fully funded, which means it has enough money to cover the ongoing costs of claims.
Will motorcycle levies be reduced as well?
ACC levies will not be reduced for motorcycles or mopeds in 2015. This is because motorcycle related injuries continue to generate disproportionately high costs for ACC and motorcycle levies are already heavily subsidised by owners of other types of vehicles."
The reduction is nothing to do with safety or reduced crash rates. Are you happy with that?
As an organisation we are committed to upholding bikers freedoms, and resisting imposed restrictions and laws which impede those freedoms.
We will do so actively, we will not passively accept the eroding of our legal right to ride. MAG NZ believes that bikers themselves understand, and are responsible for, the actions that are required to ensure their freedoms. We will not wait for others to do our job for us.
MAG NZ has the support and backing of MAG UK and will use the resources this affiliation brings to ensure we achieve our goals.
MAG NZ is simply pro-biker and stands for anyone's right to enjoy their choice without unfair and unjust laws which interfere with that freedom. So, do not ask what MAG New Zealand can do for you, rather what can you do for your fellow bikers...
